There are three main ways to join First Southern Baptist Church. In each case a newcomer should complete the "Discovering Church Membership" Class so that you may understand who we are and what we are about. 1. Transfer of letter from another Baptist church 2. By statement of faith to the congregation 3. By full immersion baptism

What is expected of a member? At First Southern Baptist we never ask our members to do more than what the Bible clearly teaches. We only expect our members to do what the Bible expects every Christian to do. These responsibilities are spelled out in the Membership Covenant.

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven." Matt. 10:32 "But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming; That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Rom. 10:8-11 "At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove." Mark 1:9,10
